Seasonal Shedding in Dogs and Solutions

Seasonal Shedding in Dogs and Solutions

7 August 2021 /Posted bypim / 95

1. Why Does Shedding Occur?
• Seasonal Changes: Dogs change their summer and winter coats according to the seasons.
• Breed Characteristics: Breeds with a double coat, such as Golden Retrievers and Huskies, shed more heavily.
• Nutrition: Insufficient protein, omega-3, and vitamin intake can increase shedding.
• Health Issues: Allergies, parasites, or hormonal imbalances can also cause shedding.
2. Seasonal Shedding Is Normal
During these periods, your dog’s shedding is a natural part of its body’s
cycle. The important thing is to make this process more comfortable.3. Solutions
• Regular Brushing: Brush at least 3-4 times a week using a brush suitable for your dog’s coat type.
• Bathing and Care: Bathing with warm water helps dead hair shed easily.
• Nutritional Support: Salmon oil and omega-3 supplements strengthen coat and skin health.
• Home Cleaning: HEPA-filtered vacuum cleaners and regular cleaning make it easier to rid the home of hair.
4. When Should You Visit the Veterinarian?
If hair shedding is accompanied by the following symptoms, you should consult a veterinarian:
• Skin redness or sores
• Excessive itching
• Patchy hair loss
• Lethargy or loss of appetite
